Terry Li

AI practitioner and data scientist based in Hong Kong. Currently Principal Consultant and AI Solution Lead at Capco, focused on AI strategy and implementation for financial services clients across Asia-Pacific.

Previously AGM and Head of Data Science at CITIC Bank International, where I built the bank's first ML model in production, led its first GenAI deployment, and was selected for the HKMA GenAI Sandbox — one of ten banks chosen to pilot generative AI in regulated financial services in Hong Kong.

I write about what it actually takes to deploy AI in production at financial institutions: the data infrastructure problems that precede model problems, the governance gaps that frameworks miss, and the operational realities that demos never show.

What I write about

Financial Services AI
Production deployment, model risk, AML, RAG for compliance, AI governance in regulated environments, and what APAC gets right that the global conversation misses.
Agentic Systems
Agent experience design, the contract pattern, sycophancy as an architecture problem, and why less context usually means better performance.
Engineering & Tools
AI instruction files as software engineering artifacts, evaluation methodology, CLI design for agent callers, and the operational discipline that separates production AI from demos.
Cognition & Philosophy
What happens to thinking when implementation is automated. Intelligence as infrastructure. The stakes that separate taste from simulation.
